BF 1942 Mod Collection B 1.2 compatible - Multiplayer support, Game Balance improved

I've compiled some of my older mods (tweaks) and some selected goodies by others to make BF42 1.2 fun to play again.

Install this .exe file to your BF 42 Game folder ("Battlefield 1942") and run the game. The folder "Collection" should appear
in your "mods" folder.
You can select this mod in the Multiplayer/Custom Game menu ("Mod_Collection") and thereafter select Singleplayer or Multiplayer.

_______________________________________
This collection contains:
_______________________________________
Two modified default maps:

Bocage_MOD with added spawnpoints. Allies have the B-17 (in SP), one Mustang, one SBD and one Spitfire. Two Shermans and four
M10 heavy tanks plus added Artillery Halftrack.
Axis have added HanomagAT 75 and one added captured Artillery truck (my Katyusha truck with three layers of AA rockets,
German markings). Two Bf 109, two German Zeros and one StukaG Kanonenvogel plus my default Stuka w/ 8 cannons and bombs (*changed, balanced).

El_Alamein_MultiTank_MOD: DaCrappers famous tank mod map, I've only modified spawnpoints, details and the terrain. Various new
tank types for both sides, Allies get additional APC types, Axis four captured Artillery trucks.
Planes: 2 Mustangs, one Corsair, 2 Spitfires, one SBD plus the B-17 for Allies, Stuka, StukaG, Bf109 and Zero for Axis.

Some hidden goodies may be on these maps ...
_______________________________________

Vehicles:

Hawkeye's Skyhawk (with my skins) on all maps (even the default ones): Axis: Kubelwagen is replaced. Allies: Every M3A1 spawns a Skyhawk.
Use joystick w/ thrust plus A and D keys to control this masterpiece. Both sides have the same skin on a map, but the desert maps
show a different skin. Hitpoints reduced (*changed, balanced)

Tangabugler's Kanonenvogel StukaG added. Two of them on the modded desert map, one in Bocage_MOD, and of course on the default Russia maps.

AA Truck: Based on Colonel Slaine's AA truck, I added the Quad AA gun (Flak) - modified Blitzer's mod. On all maps that have stationary AA guns.
Every stationary AA gun spawns this truck, the position may not be perfect on all maps. You don't *have* to use it ;-)

Hanomag AT 75: My APC with Panzer 4 main gun and small turret. With skins. Top hatch to be opened using arrow up/down keys (gunner position).

M3A1 Ambulance: Provides ammo and heals within 10 m radius, rear seats had to go. Spawns a Skyhawk on every map. With skins.
All doors can be opened (arrow up/down keys) by the driver. Rear door mechanism by Blarno.

I edited various tanks, ammo supplies, speed, rate of fire and so on. Additional Skins for Axis and Allies tanks, planes, vehicles.

Most tanks and the Wespe have hatches that can now be opened using the arrow up/down key (driver), it's useless in a battle though ;-)

Willy has four seats plus MG (Feed mod)

My Planes with missiles: Bf 109, Mustang, Spitfire and Corsair have rockets. The Bf 109 fires Skyhawk missiles from 3 rocket holders under
each wing. Meant as AA missiles. Due to gameplay changes in BF 1942 version 1.2 pilots should fire them off from a greater distance.
Don't be a hero! My default Stuka now has 8 MGs and bombs (*changed, balanced).
I added guns/cannons (Bf 109 nose cannon by Plattmaker) and useless moveable parts. I fixed the Bf 109 landing gear bug.
Rockets replace the bombs (AltFire), only the SBD, the B-17, Stuka and the "German" Zero now carry bombs. Yak, AichiVal remain untouched.

Zero for the Germans: Every Bf 109 spawns my Zero with German markings. Position may not be perfect on
all maps. Consider it a gift ;-)
Zero nose guns activated.

_______________________________________
Weapons:
Soldier kits edited. Axis engineer now has the MP 40, medic has the German MP 18 (taken from the Japanese medic).
Numerous other tweaks (ammo, # of mags, rate of fire, effects ...) that I've done and that I can't remember ;-)
SW-14 and Lobo donated their M1 Garand for the Allied engineers.
Changes for game balance or MP compatibility reasons: Engineers now have only 4 Expacks (was 8), Stuka lost
the rockets, tank ammo and reload times balanced, Sherman types improved. Flak Truck spawn points reworked. MP support required further
changes (invisible).
_______________________________________
Textures:
New textures for the Stuka (desert only) by Mange and the Mustang (Mange).
Also my skins for Bf 109 (chrome for Europe plus one desert skin), MP 40 (chrome). Plus above mentioned textures for other vehicles.
Golden Wrench skin for all engineers (by Azag-Toth)
Captain Miller skin (US) by Disco Stu
Tangabugler polished my custom in-game vehicle icons.
_______________________________________

General Info:
External soldier view included (I lost it during conversion and it was missing in the first Beta).

Multiplayer was tested on Dice Dedicated Server only (no third party server) which came with BF 1942.

When playing the default maps, most of the changes are still activated. Flak gun spawns an AA Truck, Bf 109 has rockets
and spawns a Zero, Tiger, Panzer IV, M10 and others have new skins and so on. If you wish to return to the original game, choose
"Multiplayer -> Custom Game -> bf 1942" in the menu.

Great thanks to Moseley and Rexman for their modding tools which made modding possible. And to the BF42.com forum members.

I'm afraid I didn't mention everyone who contributed to this personal collection, I simply transferred my old game install to
version 1.2, removed experimental vehicles, converted the files, fixed obvious bugs and compiled that.

I really tried to memorize everyone, people who release mods for free at least deserve proper credits.

GAZALA for Mod Collection:
_______________________________________
You know the default Gazala map by Dice, I hope.
Changes:
New vehicle setup, known from the modded desert map and Bocage_MOD. Plus a new light tank for the British: Resembles the
Chi-ha, very fast (the fastest tank in BF42) and manoeuvreable, carries up to 3 men. Driver operates the main gun plus coax MG,
#2 operates the MG in the front hull, #3 -> top MG. The front MG is in a fixed position and you use AltFire (or right mouse
button) to fire. These light tanks replace some of the Willy jeeps known from the standard Gazala map.

Other vehicles: The British get some default Shermans, Shermans with high velocity gun (long gun barrel), the M3A1 Ambulance spawns
a Skyhawk, and there's one heavy tank M 10 on the free Air Base in the Northwest (in case the British are clever enough to secure
this base in time). Plus Priest artillery and Willy jeeps.
The Germans get a few Panzer IVG for some of their P IV, one Tiger heavy tank on their main base and one Artillery Truck w/ missiles.
Wespe and Skyhawks.

Planes: Allies - two Spitfire w/ rockets and two SBD dive bombers on the Northeastern Airfield (home base), one Spitfire, one SBD and
one B-17 bomber waiting for their crews on the free NW Airfield - even in singleplayer mode (again, securing this base is important!)
Axis - two Bf 109 w/missiles, one Stuka, two StukaG Kanonenvogel and two Zeros on the Axis airfield.

_______________________________________
Hints:
As you can see from the vehicle setup, Axis air power seems dominant - the British must get the open NW Airfield to counter that.
Due to the difficult terrain in Gazala, you need skilled pilots if your planes are supposed to attack tanks. Beware of AA guns and MGs.
Ground forces: This will be tough for the Germans, the British have an equal amount of medium and heavy armor (heavy tanks being almost
useless in that terrain though) PLUS their fast light tanks.

_______________________________________
Textures:
Chi-ha Union Jack textures only on Africa maps (Pacific maps still show the Japanese camo). Technical changes to the Chi-ha will
affect the Japanese tank (Pacific), however ;-)) - only if you choose "Gazala_ModCol1.2" as your Custom Game.

View the Readme file before D/L - SPEC OPS FOR MOD COLLECTION 1.2 README:
Spec Ops Map Addon for Mod Collection 1.2 Final (Recruit Snyder)

These maps require the Mod Collection 1.2 Final installed on your machine, get it from:
bfcentral.com, bf1942files.com, Planet-Battlefield.de, bf1942.4players.de or k-files.de (for now, more D/L sources to come).

Install this .exe file to your BF 42 Game folder ("Battlefield 1942") and run the game. The folder "Spec_Ops_ModCol1.2" should appear
in your "mods" folder.

Usage:
You can select this mod in the Multiplayer/Custom Game menu ("Spec_Ops_ModCol1.2") and thereafter select Singleplayer or Multiplayer.
This mod loads the entire "Mod_Collection" mod automatically. So, if you want to play the Mod Collection with this new Tobruk map instead
of the default Tobruk map, choose "Spec_Ops_ModCol1.2" in your Custom Game menu and thereafter "Tobruk" as your map. If you want to
play the default Tobruk map with the Mod Collection features, choose "Mod_Collection" in your Custom Game menu and thereafter "Tobruk".
Battleaxe map, Bocage --- see above. The Bocage Spec Ops map is different from the "Bocage_MOD" that came with Mod collection 1.2.

Note: This package also contains the previously released Gazala_for_Mod_Collection1.2 map (just in case you didn't d/l it separately).
Please see the separate Gazala Readme (also included in this package).

Overall changes:
Spec Ops means "elite troops" in this case. They've got special equipment and better training, so they're shooting with higher accuracy.
Most guns/rifles reworked to achieve higher accuracy, number of mags increased, all soldiers that carry grenades now have 6, Assault
class has binoculars (key "5"). WARNING ;-) ... these changes will be in effect as long as you choose "Spec_Ops_ModCol1.2" as your Mod
in the Custom Game menu, on every map that you select. You will always have elite troops with better equipment and more ammo, even on
the Pacific or Russia maps. You will also keep the new British desert textures (Sherman, M10 and Priest) on all Africa maps.
Choose "Mod_Collection" as your Mod to return to the "regular" weapon setup and texture set of the Mod Collection.

TOBRUK Spec Ops for Mod Collection:
_______________________________________
You know the default Tobruk map by Dice.

Changes:

Tobruk - the final battle. Supplies are low on both sides. No more huge tank battles ... no vehicles at all. The British are preparing
their old bunker lines for the German attack, no stationary MG in the bunkers or on the hills. This is a pure infantry map.
Only a few cargo planes are available for last minute reinforcements ....

Completely new gameplay. No vehicles for either side, but paratroopers for both. View the loading screen to see the estimated drop zones.
German "Fallschirmjaeger" land behind enemy lines and try to secure the British HQ and control the City of Tobruk, thereafter attack
the secondary bunker line.
British Paratroopers (2 drop zones) try to attack the German HQ and support their ground troops that may be under attack. If necessary,
they will have to reinforce ground troops in the first bunker line.
Note: Players can choose the drop zone to play as paratroopers or one of the default bunker/HQ spawn points.

Edited AI files to support the new gameplay on this map.

_______________________________________
Hints:
This is an infantry map. You will see, there's plenty of action even without tanks or planes. Axis and Allies paratroopers should be
careful on unknown territory, the enemy has sent out patrols.
You will notice that the Allies engineer's M1 Garand gun is a very powerful weapon on infantry maps ;-)
(Thanks again to SW-14 and Lobo for this piece.).
Towers ... should be manned (British HQ), you will need them.
Important: Don't get nervous in the course of the battle. The more Control Points you lose, the more paratroopers will be sent as
reinforcements. That's why the first Axis Airborne wave is stronger than the British one. This is meant as a surprise attack by German
special forces.
Note: The British HQ flag can be taken by the enemy, not the German HQ flag - by default. I didn't change that.

_______________________________________
The BATTLEAXE Raid for Mod Collection:
_______________________________________
You hopefully know the default Battleaxe map by Dice.

Changes:
Reduced number of vehicles/planes. No planes for Allies, two Stukas (one Snyder Stuka and one StukaG by Tangabugler) for Axis.
Allies have one M10, one Sherman long barrel and one Priest in their HQ, Axis have one Tiger, one Hanomag AT75 and one Katyusha Arty truck.
Plus the Quad Flak trucks for both sides (known from the Mod_Collection).

British paratroopers will be dropped behind enemy lines. Their objective: Attack the Axis airfield. Prevent the Stukas from taking off.
If possible, secure the airfield and the German HQ - but the flag is untakeable, so German soldiers will respawn. Use the Stukas
and German vehicles and attack the Axis bunker lines from behind - if you can.
Note: When playing the Allies side, you can choose the ParaSpawn point as your starting point.

German Army has small patrol units in the hills. Be careful.

_______________________________________
Bocage Spec Ops for Mod Collection:
_______________________________________
Different vehicle setup (less vehicles), but US Airborne operation in the North (see loading screen map for the drop zone). Objective:
Attack German lines from behind, don't attack the German HQ (waste of time). Move fast, you're being dropped in a safe area and you're
moving on farmland until you reach the village. Have faith, trust the map, there are no German troops around.

Axis side: Well ... maybe the US maps aren't that accurate .... and the area isn't that safe ... and you've got more vehicles hidden
behind the front line.

Gameplay hint: Allies: When the map has loaded, you've got only one spawn point to select, so you will see if you're actually a
paratropper when the action begins.
Axis: Only one spawn point to choose, and your commander will send you to the right spot. Trust him ...

_______________________________________
_______________________________________
Known issues: Beta testing has shown that on some maps and on some computers the game seems to pause from time to time
(for one, two, three seconds ...) and then runs smoothly again. No lagging or crashes reported though. Battleaxe obviously not affected.
If you mind those "hickups", don't play the Spec Ops maps. We haven't found a way to track that problem down (so far) ...

Have fun,
